IRS issues FAQs on Mental Health Parity Requirements

MHPAEA: Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act has been in the news for the last few months, with a large carrier being corrected for non-compliance, among other issues.


In April of 2021, the IRS issued a set of FAQs related to the MHPAEA requirements, addressing an important question about the "non-quantitative" portion of the requirements.


While the clarification may not have been the answer everyone was looking for, it's helpful to understand when dealing with benefits programs that offer mental health and addiction-related benefits.
